Frequently Asked Questions

What is Career Night?

Career Night offers all NCHS students in 9th through 12th grades the opportunity to hear from successful professionals, entrepreneurs, freelancers, and business owners who work in a variety of industries and careers.

The event is organized by the Parent Faculty Association in partnership with the NCHS Counseling Department and takes place every other year.

Who are the panelists?

Panelists are successful professionals, entrepreneurs, freelancers, and business owners who work in a variety of industries and careers. Most panelists either live in or have a connection to New Canaan, and some of them are even NCHS graduates! All panels are moderated by a parent member of the PFA who helps to guide the discussion. As panelists get confirmed, they'll be added to the main Career Night webpage.

Why should my child attend Career Night?

The information students learn at Career Night may inspire brand new academic interests or reinforce existing ones. Students also get to ask the panelists questions.

It's sure to be an invaluable evening that students won't want to miss, particularly our juniors who won’t get another chance to participate before they graduate!

How many panels can my student attend?

Students can attend THREE 30-minute long panels. Students do not need to select panels in advance. They can decide which three panels they'd like to attend when they arrive.

Please encourage your child to arrive no later than 6:45pm to ensure they have time to sign in and select their panels.

My child is a 9th grader. Can they still attend?

Absolutely! All NCHS students are encouraged to attend. It’s never too early to learn about career options and discover a passion.

Can parents and/or middle school siblings attend?

No, this event is for NCHS students only.

I have more questions. Who can help me?
