OCTOBER 2023
A NOTE FROM PRINCIPAL EGAN
Principal Bill Egan NCHS

It's that time of year when the leaves begin to change, and our October calendar fills with exciting fall activities, fantastic events, and opportunities coming your way this month.

On Friday, October 6, we invite all students to explore their interests and passions at our annual Club Fair in the cafeteria at 9:30 AM.  Whether you're into debate, art, science, or anything in between, there's a club waiting for you. Students will learn more about the various clubs and organizations New Canaan High School has to offer.

Prepare to be enchanted by our talented performers this fall as they take the stage in this year's Fall Play: All In The Timing by David Ives.  An evening of comedic and witty one-act plays performed by our upperclassmen, with performances on October 26, 27, and 28. As always, the production promises to be a captivating experience, and we encourage you to come and show your support for our talented actors and crew.

Our fall sports season is in full swing! Cheer on and support our student-athletes as they showcase their skills on the field and court. Visit the NC Rams website for team schedules and updates.

Get ready for NCHS’s time-honored traditions, Homecoming, and Spirit Week from October 16 through October 21. It’s a week filled with school spirit and fun activities brought to you by the Student Council (StuCo), culminating with a bonfire on Friday, October 20 and the Homecoming football game on Saturday, October 21.

Mark Your Calendars! October is a month brimming with excitement and opportunities to connect with your school community. Stay updated on all the details and dates through our school's website and social media channels.

I look forward to seeing you at all of the exciting events.

Sincerely,

Bill Egan

Volunteers Needed for NCHS Homecoming Dance
Saturday, Oct 21 | 7:00-10:00 PM

The NCHS Student Coalition is currently planning the 2023 Homecoming Dance. This year's theme is disco fever! We need parent volunteers to help with decorating for the event and we need a parent volunteer to create a Sign-Up Genius to solicit sweet treats, pizza, candy and water donations. Last year, we had around 700 students attend the dance!

Parent involvement has been instrumental in the success of the event. Please contact StuCo advisor Jessica Cullen if you would like to volunteer. Thank you in advance for your help and support!

Each year, the Club funds additional coaches for every team, raising the skillset and abilities of all athletes.

More than 70% of all NCHS students participate in school athletics in any given year. For these students, athletics are an integral part of the educational process. Through athletic participation, students learn teamwork, work ethic, time management and a responsibility to others.
